Hello, my friends!

Today I want to tell you on which platform you can make an online store.

I have never been a supporter of a certain solution, as it all depends on the project's objectives and the requirements for it.

There are 4 fundamentally different approaches:

  1. Create your own online store on SaaS-platform
  2. Create your own online store on the framework
  3. Create your own online store on a simple script
  4. Create your own online store on a special CMS (or on a special component)

Let me show you the pros and cons of each of these approaches:

1.Create your own online store on SaaS-platform

SaaS-platform of online store is a special service that offers its platform and all the functionality to help with the task of selling goods and services through the Internet. Usually you have to pay for using it on monthly basis.

In other words, how many months you, and pay only for the months you spent using their platform to create an online store.

A good example of such a platform is InSales.

Let's look at the pros and cons.

Pros:

Quick start

You may open your online store just in few days

Low initial expenses

You can make a profit on sales without spending a lot of money to create an online store

Cons:

Lifetime subscription

Initially, you are undoubtedly saving save money, but in the end you will lose more if you do not consider different solution

Limited expandability

You are limited to functionality that is provided on the platform. If you think it is not enough, this solution is not for you.

2.Create your own online store on the framework

This is the exact opposite of the previous version. On the framework you can create any solution.

Usually the largest and most popular online stores made on the framework.

Let's look at what the pros of this approach are:

Pros:

Scalability without limits

You can create any solution (even the most daring)

Cons:

High expenses

You have to pay the web-studio at least 5000 $ in order to create an online store on the framework. If you want to do it yourself, you should have a good knowledge of programming.

The complexity of further support

The experts, who would administer these websites, as a rule, are more expensive and harder to find.

3.Just use the special script when pressing the “Buy” button

If you have a few products that you sell, you can consider this method.

There are special scripts, for example, ordermaster.ru.

How it works: You make a detailed goods description on the page and place the "Buy" button in this text (a simple image). Then you make it a link. And this link should lead to a page of the script, where there already is a payment system, where a person can pay for the goods.

Pros:

Low expenses

Usually these scripts are inexpensive. This is often a one-time payment.

 Cons:

You have to customize each item manually

You have to customize a link for buying for each product

Limited expandability

You are limited to functionality that is provided on the platform. If you think it is not enough, this solution is not for you.

4.Create online store on a special CMS (or on a special component)

This is the most popular solution, because it is suitable for most online stores.

If you do not need a customized solution on the market, but you do not want to pay someone on monthly basis, it is a solution just for you.

There are many different CMS online stores and everyone can choose according to their taste and budget, since not all of them are free.

Let's look at the pros and cons.

Pros:

You can do it yourself

CMS is the constructor, where with certain knowledge one can find customized solution.

Expandability

Many add-ons are usually created on these CMS, and with their help one can implement nearly any functional.

 Cons:

You have to master CMS

It concerns you only if you decide to make online store yourself. If you will order, this problem disappears.

Not everything is possible to implement

Compared with the framework, CMS imposes certain limitations that cannot be avoided, without the creation of additional modules.

Each CMS has its disadvantages

Each CMS has its pros and cons that need to be considered when developing an online store.

This is where I will end this short overview.
